Community
& Engagement

Across universities, public media, and professional organizations, I have designed and supported programs that bring students, alumni, scholars, creatives, and other professionals together. In addition to creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and invited to participate, I also work to translate institutional goals into experiences—events, partnerships, and storytelling initiatives—that foster learning, professional development, and community connection.

This has included launching affinity groups, brokering partnerships, producing narrative-driven media, and designing events and facilitating conversations that support career exploration, representation, and belonging.

Queens College

Co-created and launched an affinity group for recent graduates in partnership with the Queens College Office of Alumni Relations, to strengthen alumni engagement and professional connection beyond graduation. Managed membership communications and provided opportunities for alumni platforming via the produced video series. Queens College Young Alumni (QCYA) combined seasonal community programming (mid-to-large-scale events up to 250 attendees), resource sharing, and storytelling initiatives to support career exploration and belonging, and continues today as QC GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade).

National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ)

Chapter PresidentDesigned and delivered career development programming for Black journalism graduate students to expand industry access, strengthen professional networks, and create entry points into media careers. Proposed and brokered a newsroom tour series designed for chapter members to visit partnering news organizations—NBC News, Buzzfeed, and Sirius XM—and hear from their recruiters. Produced an in-person conference for students to connect with industry leaders, mid-level and senior media professionals, mentors, and peers.

Developed partnerships with other cultural and identity-based student organizations to promote cross-cultural dialogues and programmatic collaboration. Prioritized celebrating student accomplishments, aggregated campus and industry events for a monthly newsletter, participated in school and NABJ recruitment, and provided guidance to prospective journalism students.

One segment on Black medical students and doctors resonated beyond the initial TV broadcast and fostered meaningful social media engagement and audience response.
