From 'Night at the Museum' to digging up Miocene fossils in Spain, Ariel Barrera is living her childhood dream.

An Anthropology Ph.D. student at the CUNY Graduate Center and the American Museum of Natural History, Ariel shares how a childhood visit to the Hall of Human Origins sparked a passion that now drives her research into ancient hominin teeth.

She explains how interdisciplinary mentorship, cross-institutional support via the New York Consortium of Evolutionary Primatology (NYCEP), and artistic expression helped to propel her academic journey.
