Previous experience includes:

  • Leading the development of “The Sidebar by NYABJ” podcast, which I still contribute to as a podcast correspondent. I have explored salary transparency, pay equity, as well as starting and scaling nonprofit newsrooms in episodes I’ve produced

  • Reporting, booking, and producing segments for the podcast and weekly radio show, “The United States of Anxiety” (WNYC Studios), a show about “the unfinished business of our history and its grip on our future”. The show is now titled, “Notes from America with Kai Wright”

  • Anchoring, booking, and producing episodes for the monthly TV news magazine, “219 West” (CUNY TV), which included interviewing guests about policy, media, social issues, history, lifestyle, health, and more

  • Presenting two workshops on “Social Media for Journalism” and leading a photography roundtable for high school journalists as part of the Journalism Education Association’s regional conference held at Cardozo High School in Queens, New York

  • Moderating a panel on journalism-adjacent careers at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in 2019

  • Serving on a panel during the 2017 New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus at the Capitol Building in Albany, New York
